Visit the Citadel of Arras
Discover a must-see in Arras
Located less than 15 minutes by car from the hotel, the Citadel of Arras is an exceptional place not to be missed during your stay.
Built in the 17th century by the famous military engineer and architect Vauban, the Arras Citadel is distinguished by its pentagonal shape.
Visit a unique place
Now open to the public, the Citadel is also one of the twelve major Vauban sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Discover three centuries of history
Built on the orders of Louis XIV, the Arras Citadel has seen three centuries of military history.
Nicknamed "the beautiful useless one" for never having been besieged, the citadel could accommodate up to 1,500 soldiers. Demilitarised in 2010, the site now belongs to the Arras Urban Community, which has opened its doors to the public.
A completely reconverted site
The Arras Citadel is now a pleasant place to live! Stroll through the woods and streams and stroll between the various military buildings.
More unusual, the site is also home to housing, businesses, a honey refiner and an educational honey factory. For the more curious and sporty, a tree climbing course is available: an opportunity to admire the citadel and its ramparts from above!
After a long walk or a climbing session above the citadel, enjoy a drink in our lounge bar "Le 19" in a cosy and warm atmosphere. You can also enjoy the view of the Arras golf course from our triple suspended terrace.
