Built on the orders of Louis XIV, the Arras Citadel has seen three centuries of military history.
Nicknamed "the beautiful useless one" for never having been besieged, the citadel could accommodate up to 1,500 soldiers. Demilitarised in 2010, the site now belongs to the Arras Urban Community, which has opened its doors to the public.
