Nicknamed the "second Louvre", the Louvres-Lens museum opened its doors in 2012. It is set in a twenty-hectare park.

What to expect at the Musée du Louvre-Lens

The Louvre-Lens consists of 5 main, interconnected buildings. Two galleries are free and open to the public:

• The Gallery of Time: this 120m-long contemporary space features over 200 works on loan from the Musée du Louvre and the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac. They reveal 5,000 years of history.

 

• The Glass Pavilion: located in the extension of the Galerie du Temps, the Glass Pavilion exhibits objects from the collections of the museums of Hauts-de-France.

Every year, the Musée du Louvre-Lens organises two temporary exhibitions with an international dimension. Before you leave, be sure to stroll through the vast landscaped park that links the museum and the town of Lens.
